Panasonic India recently invited us to the inauguration of their new manufacturing unit in Jhajjar, Haryana. It is the country’s first and Asia Pacific’s sixth ‘eco ideas’ factory. The construction of Panasonic Technopark was started in April 2011 and has an initial manufacturing capacity of over 1,000,000 sets of air conditioners, 400,000 sets of washing machines and 25,000 sets of welding and cutting machines per annum.

The Panasonic Technopark in Jhajjar was inaugurated by Haryana’s chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Panasonic ‘eco ideas’ brand ambassador Dia Mirza. The two phase project will be completed by 2018 and it will provide employment to 1500 staffs in its first phase and around 2000 staffs in the second phase. Apart from that, the company offers vocational trainings to improve technical skills of people working in and around the facility and help them increase their employment opportunities. This facility brings economic growth and social benefits to the region.

The Panasonic Technopark is designed with various green features, including a 28.29 KWp solar modules installation at the rooftop of the office, entrance canopy and car park to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, and a 100% water recycling system for a sustainable water provision. Panasonic will also implement initiatives that focus on three key areas, which include CO2 emissions reduction, waste management and recycling and chemical substance usage.

Mr. Daizo Ito, President, Panasonic India said:
“The opening of this factory will fuel our first priority goal in India of doubling Panasonic’s revenue in fiscal 2012-2013. We plan to achieve this by focusing on three core strategies: pursuing our company vision of becoming the No. 1 Green Innovation Company in the Electronics Industry by 2018; integrating Indian expertise into our product design and manufacturing processes; and increasing focus on rural development.”

Panasonic will not only sell these eco-friendly products in the Indian market, but it will also export these products to other markets like Middle East and Africa. The company is planning to export 5% of its products by next year and will gradually increase up to 20% by the end of 2015.

Currently, Panasonic has a workforce of about 12,650 people in India. The company is expecting a sales revenue of Rs. 10,000 crore from its Indian operations during 2012-13. Panasonic India is also targeting Rs.25,000 crore turnover by 2015. Check out some amazing pics of the Panasonic Technopark after the break.
